Beef Taco Filling

This was served as part of a Latino-themed dinner party I hosted in my home, where I created a couple of dishes as part of a Taco Bar.

THE RECIPE

SERVES 6

Ingredients

  • 500g shabu shabu beef

  • 1 onion, sliced thinly

  • 1 carrot, julienned

  • 1 tbsp tomato paste

  • 1 tbsp soy sauce

  • 1 tbsp oil

Marinade

  • 1 tsp mirin

  • 1 ½ tbsp soy sauce

  • 1 tsp hot paprika

  • 1 tsp smoked paprika

  • 2 tsp ground cumin

  • 1 tsp garlic powder

  • A pinch of black pepper

  • A squeeze of lemon juice

Directions

  1. Mix the ingredients for the marinade, and coat the beef slices in it.

  2. In a large pan, sautée the onion and carrot in some oil.

  3. Once softened, add the soy sauce and tomato paste, and mix well.

  4. Add the beef and cook for 2-3 minutes, or until your desired texture.
